Our Mission for Kids

The H.E.R.D. Foundation prepares the next generation of leaders by connecting children, especially military connected youth, with horses. Through horsemanship and horse rescue, we foster grit, compassion, responsibility, teamwork, and emotional resilience, while supporting military families and helping children navigate the unique challenges they face with strength and confidence.

Our Programs

*HERD Camps — Weeklong leadership & horsemanship camps

*Unbroken Bonds - Military Family Equine Connection Retreat designed to connect parent and child, open communication and create bonds that last while they are separated for periods of time.

*Frontline Families — A scholarship based program that funds summer camp and lesson programs designed specifically for children of military members, police officers and first responders.

*Leadership Clinics — Workshops that build responsibility and integrity

Unbroken Bonds

The H.E.R.D. Foundation is currently seeking funding for our Unbroken Bonds: Military Family Equine Retreat, a two-day equine-assisted program designed to strengthen the connection between military parents and their children through shared experience, reflection, and hands-on horsemanship. Our fundraising goal of $5,000 will allow us to provide this healing experience to at least six military parent–child duos, covering program materials, horse care, facility use, meals, and professional facilitation. By supporting this initiative, donors directly invest in the emotional well-being, communication, and long-term strength of military families.
